Daily Crumbs: Weekly
Curated reads for the week of October 16, 2023.
Good morning, friends.
Today marks my youngest daughter’s fifth birthday. I rose at the crack of dawn to place little cupcakes around her gifts and wrote:
After 31 hours of labor, I roared, and she slipped out of my body like a quiet little fish. I sat on the stairs of our house, my doula holding my body and my midwife handing me a daughter.
“I think my vagina just exploded,” I mustered, as rubs poured to trigger her cries.
“Sometimes, that’s its job,” she answered, kissing my face.
Of that day, I don’t remember the pain. Only the hands.
Happy birthday, little Bird!
